Piano I

Last November I had the opportunity to open the AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Legacy of Co-founder Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams. It was one of the most personal performances I've ever given. I approached the piano alone with nothing arranged or prepared. I surrendered, to the piano, to the others in the room, and to all who have come before me. I wanted to honor the AACM's vision of original and boundary-defying music as well as the life of Muhal Richard Abrams. I'm incredibly grateful to the AACM New York City Chapter, Inc for including me in on such a special occasion.
